Analytical and archetypal psychology for psychological support.

The "archetypal images" represent the original models with which the soul was built, connecting to personal and emotional experience, they help give meaning to our way of being and thinking. Archetypal psychology works with images, defined by J. Hillman as the primary assumptions of human thought “There is nothing more primary,” he says. Through the technique of amplification, enhancing the patient's narrative in the psychological interview through the technique of amplification, “to eliminate subjective resistances,” one reaches the root of the patient's problem symbolically and metaphorically, so “within the psyche itself the narrative generates meaning, which can be worked on as psychological content.” The archetypal psychologist amplifies the images, enriches them with images from myths, fairy tales, traditions, that is, goes to the cultural and collective essence where they were formed and to which they continually refer. Analytical psychology has had great development, starting from Sigmund Freud, who discovered the personal unconscious, through Carl Jung analytical psychology, also called depth psychology by Carl Jung himself, arrived at the collective unconscious which is a universal psychic container, containing the archetypes, that is, the forms or symbols that manifest in all peoples of all cultures, common to all humanity, and also manifest in the physical, social, linguistic and aesthetic dimension in the form of symbols and mental images.

Carl Jung defined the fundamental archetypes: the «Self»; the «shadow» (the instinctive and irrational part also containing repressed thoughts and complexes); the «anima», that is, the feminine personality as the man represents it in his unconscious, and the «animus», the masculine counterpart of the anima in women. Other examples of archetypes innate in the human mind, according to Carl Jung, are those of the sage, the magician, the warrior, the sovereign, etc.). The latest development of archetypal analytical psychology was found with James Hillman, who defined that everything is linked to an archetype, and everything is archetypal.

Through archetypes, by seeing the client's problem in a similar way, but amplified archetypically, one arrives at the profound intrapsychic reflection of the disturbed fact, which with reflection and awareness “the psyche creates reality every day”, since it begins to dissolve in the archetype, which metaphorically invites one to review the main root of the problem, and the archetype itself finds the path to take and the probable resolution of the problem: “in identifying the archetype....the primary objective is to deal with psychic discomfort in a global way, which starts, as Jung's analytical method wants, from the investigation, with active listening, of the patient's psychic approach to their own existence, through the plot and psychological narrative as an expression of the reality of the soul.”

The image is a product of the psyche, which always has its own archetypal root, and when “it takes possession of the psyche, it rises as a unilateral reality”, it has full capacity either to destroy or renew the psyche, and the choice is up to the analysand, which path to take, either malaise or a psychic balance and harmonious existence and psychological well-being to pursue.
